Ocean City Jeep Week
« on: July 31, 2017, 08:37:20 PM »
Is anyone going to OC Jeep Week?  Has anyone been before??  Is it worth the money and the drive??  Or, should I stick to my original plan and go camping instead?   :?

It's very different from the early days. They still have beach crawl and some other unique events but the focal point is mostly just park/talk/vendors try to sell you stuff.

It's also basically nothing but JK's. None of the vintage or bigger Jeeps seem to come out anymore.

We went last year, for our first time, and are going again this year. We camp on Assateague Island. The beach is cleaner and less busy and we got the OSV permit too.

I've heard parts of it can turn into a frat party (not that all of it is like that though).  If you haven't bought tickets already I'd stick to the camping plan, but I don't like the beach so...

No, no tickets  have been purchased, and the hotel costs are way overpriced!!

100% true.  Nowadays it seems like most every generic "Ocean City (insert vehicle type or cult group) Week" draws out some questionable people and behavior. Especially at night, things can get pretty sketchy down there...

I think it's pretty sad the direct Ocean City has gone, totally different culture from when when I went as a kid. There is some kind of show almost every weekend and its done exactly the same. It's all about packing people into a sardine can with generic whatever to bring in tourist dollars. I use to love how every block was a different 1 off motel, quiet broadwalk and silent nights. Sold my condo on 18th street almost 4 years ago now.

If I go I wait until mid sept.

Yeah, and I really do hate to "hate" on it just because there will always be that nostalgia factor.  In the summertime though...just gets a little too crazy for me.

You'll always find me down at OBX nowadays  :tu

Went down the weekend after, you'd think it was still Jeep week the way every vendor on boardwalk was trying to sell off Jeep apparel. Water was pretty cold for August
